Where it starts

Trainable things

You finish a chapter and can't recall the first page. Someone introduces themselves and the name is gone before you let go of their hand. You reach for your phone to split a bill four ways. These are trainable things — and almost nobody was taught how.

It takes no talent and no free hour. It takes an ordered method, exercises that get measured, and coming back tomorrow.

Three pillars · three units

Each pillar is measured in its own unit

That's why there's no single score papering over everything: what you train is measured in what it's measured in.

effective wpm

Reading

You train speed and comprehension together, and the app only counts effective speed: words per minute times what you get right on the quiz.

  • RSVP reader with a fixation point
  • Read your own books, with a pacer
  • Schulte tables and pyramid
  • Tachistoscope and eye movement
  • Gear shifting and zero regression
  • Flash comprehension

digit span

Memory

You build your 100-slot peg system, your palaces and your flashcards, and drill them until they come without thinking.

  • PAO and 00-99 peg systems
  • Flashcards with spaced repetition
  • Memory palaces you can walk
  • Drilling the items you missed
  • 10 competition disciplines
  • N-Back, digit span, spoken numbers

How it is organised

Learning it, drilling it and keeping it up are three different jobs

Most apps in this category hand you loose exercises and leave you to decide. Here each layer has its job, and the app decides the parts you have no reason to know.

  1. You learn

    The Paths

Four guided routes — Reading, Memory, Mental math and English — made of short chained lessons: you read one idea, try it in a drill, and move to the next node. Every unit ends in a test, and what you get wrong comes back.

    • A map of nodes that open as you go
    • Theory in pages, not endless scroll
    • Mixed practice of your weakest items
  2. You drill

    The Ladders

Three ladders of rungs with a measurable target: Speed, Mental math and Memory. A rung is not passed by showing up, it is passed by hitting a mark. The memory one has 8 rungs for each of the 10 disciplines, at competition targets.

    • Routines by level, from basic to competition
    • A technique card before each drill
    • History of rungs and streak
  3. You keep it up

    The daily part

The Daily Session is three blocks of about seven minutes, one per pillar. With more time, the Coach builds the session from the minutes you give it and the level it measured. And if you want to be the one deciding, you build your own routines drill by drill.

    • Daily Session, missions and streak
    • A coach that fits the time you have
    • Your own routines, saved and exportable

What it's for

What it's actually for

Reading
You train speed and comprehension together, and only effective speed counts — so you cannot fool yourself by skimming. What it's for: the book you've been starting for a year, the 40-page report, this week's notes.
Memory
You build a 100-slot peg system and memory palaces, and review them until they come by themselves. What they're for: names in a meeting, a talk without notes, the grocery list.
Mental math
11 methods with timed drills. What they're for: splitting a bill, a discount, a unit conversion — without reaching for your phone.
Review
Spaced repetition picks what's due today: what you're about to forget, and nothing else.
Consistency
Fifteen minutes, a path already laid out, and a streak. It's the boring part, and it's the part that decides.

How far each person gets depends on where they start and how consistent they are. Mente Prima measures your progress with its own in-app tests; it makes no academic, workplace or health claims.

0 – 1000

A number, not a feeling

The Mente Prima Index folds your three pillars into a single 0–1000 figure, computed from your results inside the app and referenced against published population norms. It goes up when you train and down when you stop. It's uncomfortable, and that's why it works.

It is Mente Prima's own progress measure. It is not a validated psychometric test or a clinical assessment, and it diagnoses nothing.

Twelve weeks of training: it climbs, then it plateaus.Three weeks without training: it falls. Illustrative curve.

And also

What doesn't fit on three cards

English and exam practice

A full English path with keyword-method vocabulary, a word explorer with rung-based review, and practice material for 6 exams with timed mock tests. Unofficial practice: nothing here issues a certificate.

Applied Memory

13 categories for memorising what you actually use: personal details, digital security, medication, finances, emergencies, general knowledge. Each with its material and items ready to drop into your system.

Competition

The championship formats are in there: digits, binaries, speed cards, names and faces; big multiplication and column addition in the Mental Calculation World Cup style. With your own records and a chained championship.

Your progress, in numbers

A baseline assessment across four domains, a level per drill, a rank per pillar, a streak calendar, history by period and the Index. All drawn from your own marks, not from estimates.

Works offline

Install it from the browser and, once signed in, train with no connection. Your books are processed on your own device and never leave the browser.

Fitted to you

Text size, reading themes, line height, margins, bionic mode, a legible typeface, reduced motion. And routines are configured drill by drill.

On your computer too

Trains just as well on a big screen

The same app installs from the browser on Windows, macOS or Linux. On a big screen the side rail appears, and everything that wants room — your books, the path maps, your stats — gets trained full-screen.

No app store in the way: your browser installs it, and it works offline on desktop too.

  • Mente Prima on a desktop computer: the reading hub full-screen with the side navigation rail
The whole reading pillar at a glance, with the desktop side rail.
  • Mental multiplication drill on a big screen with a large problem and on-screen keypad
Math drills full-screen: the problem stays big, the clock stays honest.
  • Memorization screen on desktop listing the competition disciplines: digits, binary, words, names and faces, cards
The competition disciplines — digits, binary, cards, names — in one place.
  • Home screen on desktop with the streak, the training paths and the side rail
Home on your computer: streak, paths and where to pick up.

Getting started

Three steps and you're training

  1. Measure where you are

A five-minute baseline assessment puts your starting numbers in writing. Without it, "I think I'm improving" is a feeling.

  2. The app lays the path

Paths and Ladders adjust to the level it measured. You don't pick the drill — you pick showing up.

  3. Train fifteen minutes

Every session ends with a number. Tomorrow's compares itself to today's.

No small print

What it does, and what it doesn't

What it does

  • Measures your reading speed counting only what you understood.
  • Gives you a daily path already laid out, with spaced review.
  • Works offline: install it from the browser and train on the subway.
  • Carries no ads, no third-party trackers and no data selling.
  • Leaves what you already finished open, even if you stop paying.
  • Refunds you within 30 days if it wasn't for you.

What it doesn't

  • It is not a health product and does not replace medical care.
  • It promises no results at school or at work.
  • It issues no degrees and no official certificates from any body.
  • It does not charge you without telling you before the trial ends.
  • It does not hide the cancel button behind a phone call.
  • It doesn't call its index a psychometric test, because it isn't one.

If anything on this list stops being true, it gets corrected here before anywhere else.

14 days

Try it without a card

The trial runs 14 days and asks for no card. When it ends you don't drop to zero: you fall back to the free tier and everything you already finished stays open.

Before you decide

What people ask

Do I need a card to try it?

No. The 14-day trial asks for no card and no payment details. Just an email, so your progress is saved.

What happens when the 14 days are up?

You fall back to the free tier, never to zero. The standalone drills across all three pillars stay open, your Index is still there, and whatever you already finished inside the paths does not close. What pauses is moving further forward.

Does it renew on its own? How do I cancel?

Monthly and annual plans paid by card renew until you cancel, and both the amount and the frequency are shown to you before we ask for the card. Cancelling is two clicks from your account, in the customer portal: no phone calls, no writing to support, no retention screen in between. The lifetime plan is a single payment and never renews.

Does it work offline?

Yes. You install it from the browser and, once installed, it trains with no connection. When you are back online your progress syncs if you have an account.

Does this prevent memory disease?

No, and we don't claim it does. Mente Prima is skills training: reading, memory techniques and mental math. It is not a health product, it does not replace medical care, and it makes no health claims of any kind. If you are worried about your memory, that conversation is with a health professional, not with an app.

Do I get a certificate or an official qualification?

No. The English exam preparation section is unofficial practice material with no affiliation to the bodies that issue those exams. Mente Prima issues no qualifications and no certificates recognised by anyone.
